I know camping isn't allowed in the National Park Gran Paradiso. However, does anyone know if exceptions are made for climbers wanting to climb for example Gran Paradiso and who want to bivouac or camp out before an ascent?
As you said camping is not allowed, but if you are at the Chabot Hut and they have no place for you there, they may let you put a tent for one night. Bivouacing on the mountain while climbing is possible too, but do not exgerate because there park patrols who may have something to say about that, also because the routes can all be done in one day.
thanks for your reply, if we go to Gran Paradiso we'll respect the parc rules. Calling Rif. Vittorio Emmanuele tomorrow.
We were originally planning to climb Grand Combin end of this week: thursday => cab. Valsorey friday => acclimatizing (maybe Combin du Meitin or Combin de Corbassiere) saturday => Grand Combin (arête du Meitin)
Recent snowfall and weatherforecast are making us look for alternatives now, meteo for Gran Paradiso for these days looks better. If we go to Grand Combin it will be from Panossiere hut and normal route, but i'm counting on quite a bit of fresh snow (also snowfall expected tomorrow).
If you can add extra info, please do, since you are located in Turin you might have some.
