Anyone know at what elevation the snow starts and how far up the road is plowed? We're looking to climb Mt. Lyell in a couple of weeks, and I realize that TM is completely under snow but I want to know how far up I can road walk to get there from the East.

As of one week ago, the road was cleared just past Tioga Lake, so pretty close to the Park entrance. Still no word on when they'll open the gate.

You should approach Lyell from Silver Lake (June Lake Loop) and Donohue Pass. It's more elevation gain than from TM but will beat road walking.
