So Nartreb's the winner. #84 was Mount Osborn, 4714 feet, highest peak on Alaska's Seward Peninsula that sticks into the Bering Sea. I'll be there tomorrow night.
Osborn is in the Kigluaik Mountains, a rugged range with some decent rock in parts, pretty accessible but not often visited. Around 1900 it was crawling with gold miners from a couple of gold rushes, one centered on Council (now a ghost town) and one on Nome.
Clues:
1. An abandoned gold dredge on the tundra near Nome
2. An Osborne computer, world's first portable
3. El Toro de Osborne (ubiquitous ad in Spain for Osborne Sherry)
4. Wyatt Earp, or rather, Kevin Costner playing Wyatt Earp. Earp owned a saloon in Nome during the gold rush.
5. The hot tub at Pilgrim Hot Springs in the valley below Mt Osborn.
6. Pilgrim Hot Springs Catholic Mission, closed in the 40s, as it looks today. Even though this area is far north of the continental tree line, there are big trees at the mission because of the warmth of the springs.
7. Ozzy Osbourne
8. Secretary of State W.H. Seward. Mt. Osborn is on the Seward Peninsula.
Hm, I just realized I made a kind of mistake, but I can't say what the mistake is without making it too easy. I'll explain if nobody guesses the mountain after a few more hints.
