Caucasus mountains

by ElbrusProject » Sun Jan 02, 2011 7:11 pm

The Caucasus is a beautifull mountain range but finding usefull information (mountaineering) is quite difficult. Elbrus is no problem (information) but I would like to climb many other mountains in the area and discover more then this one mountain alone.

For starters:

- wich mountains are within a day travelling from Elbrus and are french grade AD and above 4000m?

Hope to get some suggestions!

Thx a lot and a Happy Climbingyear

You may find a lot of information in this book: Classic Climbs in the Caucasus by Friedrich Bender, Diadem Books, ISBN 0-906371-59-7. Of course, it is necessary to update some information from this book but it may be very useful as the 1st step.

even better contact sp member http://www.summitpost.org/users/alexclimb/20745
with a paruski speaking guide you can go much further in that region than without dealing with the army and such.
