Russian visa trouble?

by Woodie Hopper » Mon Apr 30, 2018 5:36 am

Hi there,

Aiming for Elbrus next September (I have the first two weeks off). I was wondering how likely there will be significant delay or other issues getting Russian visas for US citizens? I am dual (Swiss as well) but would rather not have to get a Swiss passport unless it will be necessary to get the visa.

Anyone with relevant knowledge or educated guesses who would like to share their thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Are you planning an independent climb? If you're going through a company they will help with the visa.

You can use one of the third party agencies to help with the application - the process will cost more, but will be simpler. I would apply for the visa at least 90 days in advance. The US passport is fine.

Also, you need to register your visa after you arrive to Russia: https://waytorussia.net/RussianVisa/Registration.html
