Sizing on L.S Baruntse

by MScholes » Tue Dec 15, 2009 12:09 am

I'm in the market for these boots as I need something for cold weather, ice climbing, plowing through backcountry on approaches.
Was trying them on today in store and I'm not sure if it's just me, but the sizing seems odd.
I've read the threads on CC.com as well. With all my sportiva boots, I'm a solid size 43.

These boots are odd it seems, the inner boot seems quite large... am I wrong in thinking that? I know in the 42 1/2 and the 43, it's the same inner boot, as I was trying on multiple sizes to figure out which one was best. The inner boot just seems HUGE compared to the outer boot. Anyone else have to downsize on these boots? And in case anyone's wondering, I had my sock combination on and ready to go.

I've got a pair in my usual size. I was planning on buying spantiks, but they just didn't fit me well. I tried baruntse's in the same size and they worked for me. I tried about 5 double plastics that day and just went for the one that fitted best. That would be my advice to you too.

Those new Scarpas look nice, but Scarpas just don't fit me. Apparently Ueli Steck used a prototype of the Guide model on his solo of of the Colton-Macintyre on the GJ.

Good to see the line from Brian Hall that these boots will not stand up to the kind of use that many boot regular owners may expect from an expensive pair of mountain boots. If only all companies were that honest ...
