Snow Conditions in Enchantments

by patacap » Sat Jun 18, 2016 1:47 am

Looking to head into the Enchantments area mid-late next week and curious what the snow levels are like. Has anybody been out there recently? Specifically is the W. Ridge of Prusik free of snow? Seems like it's going to warm up but might go for other peaks in the area instead like Dragontail, Colchuk, or Little Annapurna.

First time in the Cascades. I'm going to assume ice ax and crampons are a must?

Thanks!

Based on when I went back to WA a couple weeks ago I'd say expect snow above 6,000 feet. The west ridge of prussik should definitely be dry but walking through the enchantments will be snowy. Bring an ice axe and if you plan to ascend aasgard pass early morning then crampons may be helpful otherwise you'd probably be fine without them
