So many volcanoes, so little time ...
You got it right! Gamalama, one of the most activ volcanoes in Indonesia is located on the very tiny Island Ternate - the capitol of North Maluku Province also known as the spice islands.
here the clues.
- ring of fire - for the volcano chain extending throughout Indonesia, Phillipines, Japan and Kamchatka.
- V.O.C. flagg on the ship - for Dutch East India Company, dominating the spice trade from the Mollucas (spice islands) for centuries
- clove - a spice from the Moluccas
- indonesian Kretek cigarettes containing cloves
- Tidore - an island just south of Ternate with the 1730m volcano Keimatubu
- Mike Horn - latitude zero - but he sailed well south of Ternate
- emblem for the province of North Maluku
- an old painting showing the island of Ternate with the Gamalama
