Solo Climb
I left for a five day, five peak trip to finish the DPS list for a 2nd time. This one was first at 92/96. I took 70' of webbing, 100' of 8mm rope, 3 locking 'biners, 3 quick links, harness, helmet, rock shoes, a pair of Petzl ascenders and the usual desert climbing gear. I set a self belay at the "step over", free climbed the false summit, used a pair of Petzl ascenders to re-ascend the rope (I used two 15' lengths of webbing to make slings for the anchor here, with a quick link for each bolt hanger, and one to link them together). The anchor in place for the rappel back off the false summit was good to go, so after that easy rap, I was one my way down.

Ascenders!
Everything went well until the return up the hanging rope. Swinging wildly in space while trying to ascend the rope was un-nerving. Practice beforehand would have been useful. We both made it up, but both of us struggled. It didn't have to be this way. A very fun way to end a five peak trip to the desert.

With Tracy and CP0915. Glad I practiced with prusiks beforehand. Then with Jodie in 2015, and again in 2015 with CP, DB, Kathy W, Craig J, Dagmar P.

Great views
Not a very long day but enjoyed the mix of hiking, climbing and using ladders. Loved the views that included the Colorado River and Mexico.

Ladder Route
Climbed this with Jack Kieffer and Paul Garry Thanksgiving weekend. We went up and over the false summit block up top which was fun though over much too quickly.
Beautiful rock and an awesome view from the top. The red arrows painted on the rock are a bit much though.

This was an easy, but very enjoyable outing with Evan and Matthew. Trip Report

Holy cow, this rock looks like something out of an old Star Trek episode; what's the line?....."looks fake!" Alois and I conquered the beast on a beautiful sunny day even after two bottles of wine the night before. Yes, it was a scrambly climb where proper footing was essential; it was a thrill to reach the top and view the desert as the buzzards do. So much beauty in such a forlorn part of the country, and with a truly entertaining host as Alois, this trip was a fantastic experience!

Penelope May and I spent the Thanksgiving Weekend 2001 climbing this Fun, FUN route. This really cannot be called climbing, but it is just incredibly fun, entertaining scrambing. If you want to make it challenge, just don't use the ladders. Anyway, this was a great trip, mostly due to the company I was with. The dinner and wine afterwards were great too. Unforgetable trip. Recommended.
