Evening after work
After bagging Hawkins, headed over to Pickett, which had a cooler summit cone than I was expecting. Took in the sunset up there before jogging back down to the car parked on Burnside Lk Rd.

Ocean to Peak Adventures Mountain Summit Challenge 2023
This was Peak #10 for me in the challenge. Thunderstorms were brewing once we got to the top.

Dayhike
Combined with Hawkins on a windy day, views were fantastic but the wind sure was annoying. Pickett has a very fun but short class 3 section.

From Sorenson's
Snowshoed up from the fire road that starts 100' east of Sorenson's resort on 88. Continued on fire road, which meanders until I was due north of the summit, then left the fire road and went south up toward the summit. Ascended the north face on well consolidated and deep snow. Axe & crampons the last 400'. Worth the climb, very pretty scenery!

Fun Snowshoe From Hope Valley
Hiked up from Hope Valley Sno-Park. Hardest part was crossing the W Fork Carson, nothing like starting the morning with wet boots!

Hike and Snowshoe
Hiked/snowshoed up snow-covered Burnside Road and then headed left towards summit up switchbacks before going cross country. Started snowing near summit. Beautiful views of Hope Valley.
Took the forest road 035 about a mile up. Then cross country. Steep, lots of chaparral to negotiate, got hailed on. Didn't read this page first. Don't recommend the route but got great shots with all the weather around.

With Hawkins
Figured the lack of snow would allow for a winter ascent using the service road - started at the 88/89 junction, followed service road most of the way before breaking off for the final ascent up Hawkins. Then followed ridgeline over towards Pickett, looked quite difficult from far away but pretty easy class 3 climb. Found summit register on Pickett just west of highest rock. If you sit on the highest rock and look down you will see it (that's how I saw it - it only had 7 signatures since 2006 so most people are not finding it). Cross country through forest to hook back up with service road after Pickett. Only needed snowshoes for about 20 minutes while on descent from Hawkins on NW facing slope towards Pickett. After than hiking boots were fine. Used microspikes on service road as warm daytime temps led to lots of ice in the early evening chill. Trip report is HERE.

Hiked along with Hawkins. Great fall colors on a perfect fall day.
Climbed in conjunction with Stevens Peak and Red Lake Peak on a scorchingly hot summer afternoon.

Combo with Hawkins, this peak was a bit more challenging than I imagined. Made sure everything was secure on the top...very cavernous gaps between the summit rocks.

Winter Storm on Memorial Day Weekend
When we started the peak was visable but the weather was quickly turning bad. Left the Burnside Lake parking area by the 88/89 interchange and just headed towards the snow ridge. Made the ridge and continued to the summit. Snow flurries along the way and winds, maybe 60 mph along the ridge. We camped on the ridge amongst the trees. 6 inched of snow overnight, head down and got to the truck. 24 degrees at 8 am, Also- couldn't find a summit register, ???

One from the road, one from the saddle
Climbed this on a dreary day from Pickett Peak Road in 2009 after tagging Waterhouse in the morning. Those picks are here.
Did it again along with Hawkins from Burnside Road in 2010.
Those picks are here.
Much preferred the latter route.
