Re: Wow!Thank you much for the kind words. I love the view of Pikes from this pair of 12ers (Almagres). Not many people see this view.

Re: Wow!Kathy,
One important clarification: The throughway you can see in this photo is the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, not the highway.
Cheers,
Sarah

Re: What ???Larry,
Oh, yeah, run a Google search for "Pikes Peak Highway" and see all that comes up (maps, YouTube videos, etc.) Plenty of tourists visit each summer and set their brakes on fire (figuratively, mostly) on the descent. ;)

Re: What ???I heard "the train" was the best way to go.
My brother took it several years ago, and said
it was a blast.
Myself? I tend to avoid tourists whenever I can !!!

Re: What ???I've done the cog railway twice and it's fun/scenic but you do need reservations most days (can be done online). I wanted to ride up and hike down but no one else agreed to do it!!! You get about 40 minutes on top and then ride down.
There's also a special race every year testing the race cars. It's quite competitive.
