Started half way up at Devil's Playground parking lot. Pretty uneventful. We did see some sheep along the way.
The summit is under construction and takes a lot away from the experience.

Took the easy way up and then ran down to one of the shuttle stops. Beautiful day. Excited to come back and run more some time.

Pikes Trail Run
Great run up Pikes, 4.5 hours round trip (but 18 miles because I missed the ONLY fork in the trail & added the entire crag trail to the run. Beautiful peak.

CO Trip
Long climb, distance wise. Not difficult. Beautiful views.
Snowed about a foot or two a few days beforehand and I was apparently the one to break trail. Lost the trail a couple times on the way up. Moderate amount of post-holing to get to the toll road. Never could find the trail after that, so lots of post-holing again. Post-holing while doing the rock scramble was particularly unpleasant. Made the top as the throngs of cars began to arrive for the day. Thankfully, I was able to hitch a ride down to where the trail first intersects the road and eliminate some brutal down-hiking.

Discovered that the original true highpoint of this peak has been removed.
While my wife visited the summit visitor's building/tourist shop with me, she wasn't game to visit the actual highest point with me since that point was in the middle of an active construction zone. In my discussion with one of the vendors who works on that mountain, I was told that when construction is finished in a year or so, everything including the summit benchmark will be put back in it's original condition. Yeah right!!!

Long day
Left Manitou at dawn, summited mid afternoon, hitch-hiked down. A lot of work for a 'hiker's peak.'

Barr Trail
We started hiking at 5:10 a.m. and summited at 11:10 a.m. Beautiful day with few clouds in the sky. Luckily for us, we have some friends in Colorado Springs that wanted to drive to the top. Got a nice ride down. Saw maybe 10 people tops on the Barr Trail and most near the top.

via Barr Trail. One of the nicest graded trails I've had the pleasure of being on. It was quite the culture shock seeing all the fat people on top complaining about the lack of starbucks on the top or whatever the equivalent is.

My first 14er
Took the railway up... extremely windy at the top! Beautiful blue skies around noon (though views were hazy), but even with the cool weather and fall colors, a huge thunderstorm built over the mountain and ended up covering the state all the way to the Kansas border.

We rented road bikes to ascent Pikes Peak. Our first time on road bikes, which was a really cool challenge. Crazy to ascent such a high mountain by road bike.
