Fun times!
From Telephone Canyon, the next day we hit Pine Creek canyon. Same group, namely Brad Meyers (took photo), me, Brandon Harrison, Dan Wolstenholme and Tess Holmes. This canyon is 7 raps and lots of swimming. Fun times!

Pine + keyhole in a day
Fun canyon. Nice swimming hole down stream of the exit rappel.
First canyoneering experience! Curt and Susan. Suda, Nick and Lauren.

A wee bit chilly
I would say that this water was probably the coldest I've ever been in. In the future, I will for certain have a full wetsuit (wore a farmer John for this excursion), but shivers aside, this was a phenomenal route! The Cathedral was stunning, and the final rap blew my mind.

How not to canyoneer
Was I successful? Technically, yes. Could I have completed this slot without the selfless and chivalrous help from some experienced canyoneers who happened upon my group? Highly unlikely. I was well on my way to being hypothermic because I wasn't prepared to take on the temps.
Wear a full wetsuit. A helmet isn't a bad idea either. Be prepared to be cold if the slot has pools of water. And being submerged is a definite possibility. You might also hook up with aforementioned selfless, chivalrous canyoneer. [Just our carabiners.] This was my first time in a slot canyon, and I will not forget it! It won't be my last either. ;)
My trauma aside - the canyon is utterly beautiful and the rappels are really awesome. Don't forget to take in the beauty and the experience.

Basically The Coldest Thing Ever
WEAR A FULL BODY WETSUIT! THIS IS VERY VERY COLD!!! I absolutely loved the technical side of it. The raps were amazing! The final free hanging 100 feet was the most fun I've ever had on a rap! I can't emphasize the cold aspect of this canyon enough! It was absolutely gorgeous, but ill prepared and you will be facing hypothermia! I'd do it again in a heartbeat! But just make sure that I am in complete wetsuit attire!
I think I'd be crazy enough to do it again with you. [but only with the right gear. hypothermia sucks.]

My First Technical Slot
Went with my two bro-in-laws for a week of Zion slot canyons. Pine Creek was the first one we did. It was my first technical slot canyon. The pools were deep. It was fun for the most part. My fear of heights over came me on the last rappell. Took me a good hour to convience myself it was safe. Looking back at it now, it was an amazing experience. I wouldn't recommended Pine Creek to anyone that has a fear of heights as your first one to do, but it is a great half day slot canyon.

Highly RecommendedThis is one of my favorite quick canyons in the park. Watch out for the "rat piles" in the pools and you'll be alright.
