Wright-Pine-Dawson
Steep climb up the ridge from Wright Mountain. Definitely a little scary on the way down with lots of exposure in places. Snow didn't really soften too much in the afternoon which would have made an arrest very difficult. Was able to hold onto bushes in some places which made me feel better. Had to just be extremely careful. Didn't see anybody all day and no footprints either. I don't think anyone has been up there in awhile.

Rainy
Started at the blue ridge road, approached from the N. Made it to 8,800' when a downpour soaked us. Winds 50+ combined with soaking rain resulted in a turnaround around 9,000'. Couldn't see more than 10' anyway.
Been up several times and several trails/routes, the last time up (2005?) was compliments of a Huey on a SAR mission and flown off when two SAR people were injured in a fall. Cause? Slipped on the ice. Be careful when on snow or ice and make sure you have good ace & crampon skills.
Had to check out the freak September snow we had in the local mountains. Hiked the Acorn Trail from Wrightwood up to Blue Ridge then on to the summit of Pine. 4-6 inches of snow on the summit. Fun day.

Started in Wrightwood at 6:30 AM with friends Dan and Toby. We hiked up the Acorn Trail to Blue Ridge road and then over to the North Ridge of Pine Mt. Made the summit by 10:05 AM. After about an hour, a snack on top and some photos I headed down. Back to my car before 12:30 and home by 1:00 PM. Nice morning hike. Toby replaced the summit register with a new book as the others are full.

A beautiful, leisurly day summiting Pine Mt., Dawson, and Baldy. 1st time up (and back) from this side. Got a very late start, but made it back to the 138 by sunset.
I would love to do Pine, Dawson, and Baldy in one day, just haven't done it yet. When are we going, Bruno?
