27 Peaks in 21 Days
Freezing A$$ cold! But what do you expect at the end of the year? We ascended the Towne Pass route in the morning which was fairly boring and then went over to do Nelson in the afternoon. It was great to meet CAB, even if only briefly. This was part of a 21 day hiking road-trip I did with Heather. Other peaks we did on this trip include:
Pinos, Sawmill, Aliso, Signal, Castle Dome, Ajo, Miller, Superstition BM, Turtle HP, Old Woman, Granite, Cinder Cone 3894', Avawatz, Pahrump, Nelson HP, Panamint Butte, Canyon Point, Shadow, Grapevine, Wahguye, Palmer, Stirling, Northshore, Black Mesa, Hamblin, and Little Virgin.
We also visited Heiroglyphic Canyon, Marble Canyon, Cottonwood Canyon, Sheep Spring Canyon, Cadiz Dunes, Mojave Lava Tube, Parowan Gap Dinosaur tracks and numerous pertroglyph sites.
See the trip report with photos for more information.

From Towne Pass
There was a stiff wind blowing for the entire hike along with freezing temperatures, but we persevered without frostbite and made it to the summit. Met gimpilator along the way which was cool. We were supposed to hike together but without 4G in DV we ended up starting sooner than them and didn't run into each other until we were on the way down. We went on to climb the Nelson Range HP and Malpais Mesa HP later in the day.

Climbed solo from Emigrant Pass. A long, cold route on an old roadbed with lots of ups and downs! I was the only the 9th person to sign the summit register in a year and a half!!

Dayhike in winter conditions
Dayhiked from Towne Pass. Continual snow coverage from 6,500', with knee-deep drifts on the summit ridge. Could not find the register (too much snow). Tagged both possible high points and then headed back down to the car for a ~4h RTT.

Great half-day hike, and then home in time for trick-or-treating.
Summitted from Emigrant Pass. Brutal wind, no other hikers, stunning views of the Sierra and Panamint Valley--perfect. Spent a long time on the top.

Fun hike
I went on a hike on Saturday, March 21st, 2009 to Pinto Peak (7505’). Pinto Peak is located in Death Valley, California. The hike was about 7 miles round trip with an elevation gain of approximately 3200 feet. The four of us started at the parking area at Towne Pass at around 8:30.
We set off heading West in a desert terrain. I started off in pants, but as it grew warmer I took off my inner layer, and switched to shorts. Our cross-county class 2 hike led to a brief class 3 climbing section which was really fun. The rocks and the vegetation are very distinctive in Death Valley so I took lots of pictures! It was very breezy as we hiked so I changed layers often depending on the elevation that we were gaining.
We reached the peak, and signed the 1st class register. Some of the things visible from Pinto Peak are Telescope Peak, Rogers Peak, Bennett Peak, Olancha Peak, Towne Peak, Langley Peak, Wildrose Peak, Death Valley, and Mount Whitney. After eating at the summit we headed back down, and we returned to the cars at 3:00.
