Austrian Alps for non-climber in november

I plan to spend some days in the austrian Alps (20th - 22nd november 2006) with my brother. We'd like to hike some lesser mountain. It will be our first Alps ascent. We prefer area of Dachstein, non glacier route, the best would be following the ridge to aviod avalanche danger. I do have neither enough skills nor essential gear to try Dachstein itself. Hoher Krippenstein is my goal, I'd like to follow the ridge to Hoher Gjaidstein. The second variant is to ascend Hunerkogel, but there is ferrata up there and avalanche danger in mid november may be quite significant there. The ascent may be done in any other range in Austria, but the route should be off glacier and should allow the least possible avalanche danger.
