Birthday climb
For my 34th birthday, I rented an e-bike from a store in Upland and rode it to a point where the fire road branches off (a little less than a mile from the summit). Total mileage came out to around 16 miles of biking and 2 miles of hiking; round-trip time was a little under 3 hours. There were two hikers and two cyclists on the trail. I also encountered quite a few bugs whenever I was in the shade and stopped moving.

From Evey Canyon
Was driving out to the desert and figured I'd stop and get this one ticked off the list. Pleasant weather but views were hazy.

From Cobol
Truly beautiful oak woodland and chaparral on the way up, along with interesting canyon views complete with gullies full of blooming ceanothus. Summit views of desert clouds above were far more interesting than the smoggy IE below - there were lenticulars above San Jacinto. No crowds on a weekday.

Evey Canyon & Firebreak
Followed the main trail through the hairpin turn and then up the west fire break to the summit. Third LPC summit of the day after Stoddard and Frankish in the morning. Nice 18-mile day.

From Mt. Baldy Rd.
Needed a stretch on Christmas Day and decided to check off Potato Mountain. Passed it many times while driving to Baldy, without giving it much attention. Pretty good views from the summit. Started early enough to not find anyone at the top, but ran into plenty of people going down.

Too hot for my Pitbull
1st time up, easy stroll. My pitbull, Daisy, didn't think it was that easy... she was foaming at the mouth and hyperventillating.

Great view of the East San Gabriel Valley. Quick, short, easy- except for the bee hives. Epi-pen in hand, I shall return.

A favorite local hike
You can see deer pretty frequently. Nice views especially on a clear day. Took my 11 year old nephew for his first successful summit. One of my favorite 'quick' hikes, beautiful nature and great way to start your day.

Twice
Yes, the first time I climbed this was in the dead of summer. Both times I've climbed from the Wilderness Park. Great peak, great view, the highest point in Claremont.
But a word of advice--don't ever try to go down the fire break. Especially when the sun is setting. It's unbelievably steep--indubitably not meant to be climbed. Scary stuff when it got dark. Maybe it would be a good challenge, though, to go up from the Padua Hills Theatre area to the top from the fire break. Hmm, have to try that some time.
