Potosi Peak's North Couloir

Potosi Peak's North Couloir

Potosi Peak and its impressive North Couloir as seen from the ridge between Potosi and "Coffeepot". Access to the bottom of the couloir posed too much of an avalanche threat for our taste so we decided to save it for another day. "Coffeepot" made a nice consolation prize. San Juan Mountains, Colorado. May 2009.

Re: A beautiful photo

Thanks Marc, its one of my favorite places in Colorado and I keep going back. In fact, I've still got my eye on that couloir and hope to go back in a few weeks when things have settled down a little more :)

Great photo Sarah!

It really shows how crumbly Potosi is will all of the debris stains in the snow. It's one of the fastest eroding mountains I've seen or been on.
