from concrete water reservoir in mouth of Spring Canyon
very scenic, good weather and with a variety of wildflowers! saw bear and turkey tracks in the snow. We could not find the primary Heaven Benchmark - only the number one with the arrow. We tried to get Heaven but failed!!

Powerhouse
Definitely a nasty bushwhack along the ridge from the end of the ATV track.
Nice day for a hike. I should've read some of the comments on this page so I would know to wear pants. My legs were pretty bloody by the end of the hike.

standard ATV trail route
Did this one with my nephew Spencer and his wife Jenny. Started at 6:30 a.m. and we were back to the car in 2 hours. Brush on the ridge wasn't too bad.

Furever Young
The human I acquired this peak with was a baby as the brush kept ripping at his skin. I chuckled because I just bounced over it, under it, and threaded the needle between it a few times. To be young, wild and free. I enjoyed this mountain, I'd do it again, because I found a nice meadow to chase voles in. It's my favorite.

Do you love having your ankles cut, ripped to shreds, and left looking like something out of a Scream sequel? You do? Good news then, Powerhouse is the mountain for you! I think one should wear a speedo to maximize the effects that the brush will have.
Otherwise the way up is nice and shaded in the trees. The ridge looks like it is far to the summit, and you know what, it actually is. I thought it would be like most peaks where the ridge seems further than it actually is, but nope, it was further than it looked. Also I sat on a cactus at the summit. This mountain was the gift that kept giving. If anyone wants to do it, just call my name, and I'll be there.

Tracts on Summit Ridge
Started late in the morning around 10am. Parked at the dead end of Stonebury Loop and hiked into the foothills until gaining the west ridge. Traversed to the north at around 6500 feet to avoid brush and stayed on the ridge to the north the rest of the way. Needed to put on snowshoes on the summit ridge because I was breaking through the crust. Saw some tracks all along the summit ridge, probably bob cat. Turned back around at 1:30 before making it to the summit. I'll have to drive up and hike it in the spring to check it off the list.

Short and steep
Started from Canyon Drive almost directly south of the peak and went up the south ridge. It was 3000 vertical feet in 1.33 miles. Except for the last little bit the ridge was either wide open or there were some overgrown trails through short sections of brush. The last 20th of a mile to the top was pretty dense. On the way down I skirted it to the west.

Really Fun Hike
Drove up to the start of the ATV Trail. Hiked up to the ridge in about 30 minutes and then another 30 minutes across the ridge to the summit. The 1st 3rd of the ridge had a nice trail and the rest had sections of a trail with quite a bit of bushwacking over to the summit.
You could drive from the Pole Heaven Road all the way to the top of the ridge if you had 4WD with high clearance and didn't mind a little Rocky Mountain Pin Striping on your vehicle. The first 100 yards of the road would be the crux.
The meadow halfway up to the ridge would make a killer campsite!
Car to Car was 1:29 minutes.

After Thanksgiving? Why not!
The gate was closed but my step-mom and I walked up to the trail head on an icy road. We saw plenty of bambies on the trail and we got to the top around sunset. It was very pretty. Anyone looking for a short hike would definitely enjoy this one.

Evening hike success!
It rained earlier in the day and the road was too muddy near the large meadow before the final switchbacks up to the parking area. This added an extra mile or so of hiking. Made it to the summit just before 10:00 pm. Back to car at about 11:30. Got a lift from a nice guy named Denver the last half a mile on the squaw peak road. (Thanks a million!) Just a warning. The trail after the first little peak is super over-grown and I lost it most of the way. The scrub oak are brutal to your legs if you are wearing shorts. Heard some elk or moose up near the summit not too far from me. Summit register is still in great condition. Will for sure be back to this gem.
Went with some family members. Went on the wrong ATV trail (the one with a wood fence blocking vehicles) and bushwacked our way up a ravine until we found the correct trail near the meadow. Half of our group wanted to turn around when we hit the ridge. Will have to go back in a week or so to hit the peak. Beautiful day, beautiful hike, fun time, even though we didn't summit.

Brushy hot hike
I saw Eric's trip report on this one so my son and I decided to go check it out. On a hot summer day (90 degrees), we enjoyed this new found treat.
