"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

East slopes from Crags TrailWe took the Crags Trail to the marshy turnoff a hit an excellent social trail north up the gully. We struck out due west up the slopes to the summit. Beautiful day - but windy as hell up in the summit! Dynamite views!!!

east/north corkscrew routhAfter following the Crags trail for a ways, there's a faint trail which goes off to the NW up a gully just north of the summit. I followed it up to the ridge crest (which connects the summit with a rocky high point farther north), then walked up the ridge south to the summit. From the Crags CG, 1 hr. up, 45 min. down. A neat, often overlooked, climb. Decent view of the Crags (5.8).

via south slopes from Crags trailThis is a straightforward bushwack from the Crags trail. I left the trail at an open area of aspens due south of the summit. It's pretty steep but short. The true summit is the furthest bump east. Great views of The Crags from here. Look for the Garratt register on top. The road to the Crags TH was closed at the turnoff to the campground added about 1/2 mile RT. This can be combined with ranked Pt 10770 south of the turnoff for the Crags campground.
