First winter ascent
Did my first winter 14er ascent. Also wasn't acclimatized which turned it into an epic adventure. To warm to glissade :(

Quandary Trail
CMC hike. This was my 5th time on The Q. It started out chilly, with flurries, but then the sun came out and it warmed up considerably. There was plenty of snow, and quite a few hikers on the mountain for early February. It took us about 5.5 hours, up and down. It was a pretty tough hike, but successful on a glorious day.

East ridge, ski descent
Snowshoed up, snowboarded down...wish I wouldve gone on a colder day...so much frustration in the soft snow at the bottom of the mountain. Still fun, nonetheles, was up and down in town to get a burger and beer in breck.

Great day!
Could not have asked for better conditions this time of year! Great temps, very little wind.

Quandary with Company!
Made a winter ascent in decent weather but high winds only to find company on the summit - a herd of mountain goats with two kids! I kept a safe distance, eventually retreating and leaving the summit to them, as they did not seem skittish of me at all. The climb was longer than I expected but manageable. Heard one avalanche on the North side but didn't see/experience any avi terrain on our route up the East Ridge. The climb took about 5 hours from car to summit and about 2 to return, so 7 total. All in all, a great day with incredible views!

Second easy day in a row
Two hours and thirty five minutes up and one hour forty minutes down on the windiest day in Colorado of my trip. It was the first time I ever tried to warm up my crotch on a climb since that East Ridge trail really picks up the southwest wind. It snowed on the crowds a bit on the way down.

Mob scene but still nice
Simply a very pleasant experience. Really appreciated the forested lower approach as well as the proximity of the TH to the main road.

Super fun ridge! Ventured off route most of the way to find some class 4 climbing. Retraced my steps down and went up Fletcher Mtn. afterwards. Fun day!

Great hike with Kieva and Mike. Started at 6:30 am and back to the car by 12:30. Hiked at a nice easy pace but we were slowed by the crowds.

Made it! What a day!
The last mile is tough. We made it just before a huge storm rolled in and we got hailed on. It was basically a blizzard. ALWAYS bring a rain jacket! I did and it was a life saver!
Started Hike: 5:45am
Ended Hike: 1:00pm

East Ridge
CMC Ararat training hike. Clear skies at the beginning and lots of people on the mountain. It was pretty windy above treeline, and it got a little chilly on the way back. Clouds started rolling in when we got to the summit, but we only got some light graupel when we got back to the cars. We did get a little spread out; some hikers were a bit slower than others, and we took a long break at treeline to let the others catch up on the way back down. It took nearly 8 hours total, but I felt better than my last time on The Q back in February. There's still plenty of snow up there, but it is manageable.
