Quandary in winter
First winter 14er. Used spikes most of the time. With light wind, even though 30 degrees, this hike was warmer than any summertime 14er I've done. Switched to snowshoes a couple of times. Large herd of mountain goats on the descent, grazing on and around the trail.
Great starter mountain. Wonderful weather! Not a cloud in the sky until we summited. Then clouds rolled in quick with snow. I was hooked after this one.

First 14er
My first 14er and I'm instantly addicted. Hiked the East Ridge taking 2.5 hours to summit and 2 hours on the return. There was some snow at the top but didn't need microspikes. Great views!

Great day for it!
Conditions were superb, not too many folks on this trail even though it was a Saturday. Very little wind, great temps!
Lots of folks on a Monday, very beautiful early fall colors!

multi pass
This is the first of a half dozen times I've been up this route from all kinds of different trail heads with all kinds of friends. always a fun time...

Hangin with the goats
The final push to the upper east ridge was brutal, but overall this is a fairly easy 3k+' of elevation gain. Was within 10 feet of several different goats and could almost touch one on the way down...they're completely desensitized to human presence! I can imagine the views are stunning on a clear day, since they were still great with rain storms rolling in today!
I've climbed this route several times over the years
A long trail, but not challenging. Climbed several times in summer.

Rematch
Difficult to find the trail in the snow pretty often and it was getting late/I was under the weather before I could finish. Will see if there are any improvements this February.

Easy walk-up
First time I climbed it was in 2007. Fun to do in early spring and ski most of the way back down.
Did this trail in just over two hours. Amazing views with lots of mountain goats.

Route Climbed: East Ridge - Winter.
Kelly and I started hiking up on compacted snow. The day was cloudy and windless.
Kelly got AMS just 20 minutes below the summit. So she started heading down while I ran up to the summit. Spent two minutes at the top, and I headed back to catch up with Kelly 5 minutes later.

Windy and Cold redux
The day started off beautifully. No wind and mild temps. quickly dissolved into high winds, snow, and bone chilling cold. My Brother and I were accompanied by the "Quandray Dog." A little yellow lab mix that had alot more spunk than my Brother or I could ever muster in such crappy conditions. He was a little annoying at times, but overall kept the moral level high enough to trudge to the top!
