4 Humans and 2 Dogs on the Boundary Peak Summit
Beautiful day with some wind. Parked ~0.7m below the TH. Easy route finding. Carried an ice axe and crampons but did not use. Dogs championed it to the top and back. Lila's and Mirra's new altitude record. Make sure to bring food and water for the dogs too if bringing along.

August Climb
Tried to get up the Queen Mine road all the way with a 2WD Jeep Passport and definitely failed, camped at the main mine flat area. Long, dry hike up with a large herd of mustangs eyeing us on the way up and back. We were wiped and decided not to go to Montgomery but the ridge looked easily traversable into California. Careful on the way down, the scree and rocks are quite loose.

Drive up to trailhead
Queen Mine Rd is easy to follow. Even google maps has it correctly. From the mine though, a high clearance vehicle is needed to get to the saddle. Not really a 4x4. Unfortunately when I was there, no sign will indicate the starting point for the trail. Fortunately, the trail is easy to spot and easy to follow.

Great day
Climbed Boundary Peak via Queen Mine route, conditions were excellent. A little bit of post-holing on the way up (and more on the way down with the sun-warmed snow) but otherwise no complaints. Didn't even use the crampons I brought. Couldn't make it all the way to Queen Mine parking area due to snow on the road, but my Equinox was only forced to stop 1/2 mile short. Road was pretty rough, but it's a rental car so what the hey!

NV and CA in a Day
Tagged both Boundary and Montgomery on a perfect weather day with Kathy and John. Much more enjoyed the traverse to Montgomery. Ran/scree skiied down.

Another Desert High Point
Dan and I slept at the trailhead/end of road, having driven across from our climb of Kings Peak in Utah the previous day. Started early to beat the heat, which (in early July) came on pretty fast! Sorry we didn't see any wild ponies, just their huge piles of shxx, evidently they believe in communal potty spots.

Pretty decent routeIt's a good route with the elevation gain not too strenuous. But boy, coming back from the main saddle--this part coming back seems to take forever.
