Fun day on Raleigh with Jeremy S
Fun outing with Jeremy. We explored all over the summit scrambling all kinds of stuff. The sub peak to the NW, just off Raleigh Peak Road had some of the best scrambling on the Raleigh Peak side. Lots of fun...highly recommended. This is a fairly short and easy climb off the road that ends with a fun scramble.
Tons of potential for new routes, especially on the East face.

Cool summit!
Interesting scrambling trying to find highest point. Great views of South Platte area. We did both summits, some really cool rock formations.

Ehhh
Long boring 5+ mile walk, then bushwhack 600 vert, then 15 feet of class 3.

Complicated west summit
Basically just a long walk until the summit area. Then things get complicated finding the true summit. West summit had the register. Two small sections of no more than 2-3 moves in a tight squeeze/off-width chimney. Solid 4th class, maybe 5.0 depending on skills. But super fun for about 15 feet.
Stellar views of the South Platte. With Sarah Simon and Logan the whining dog! :o)

Kiefer and I enjoyed amazing, spring-like weather on this day. We had a few problems entering the higher boulders because our pup got spooked by the scrambling, so we ascended one-by-one while Logan wailed in anguish - poor little guy! Incredible views. Cathedral Spires, in particular, just sings on the horizon!

Different Planet
The South Platte is such a cool change of scenery from the upper front range. The summit view drops away like a vast ocean from the top of a cliff.

Raleigh, Eagle Rock
The pup and I made a nice hike of this and Eagle Rock. Got halfway up before I realized I forgot to put my insoles back in my boots!! Made for a little rougher hike..
I made this way more of an adventure than it should have been. Haven't been on a bike in years and tried going up the CO Trail with one. Too many switchbacks. Ditched the bike just beyond the junction with the road due to the deadfall. Was a bit too far east of the easiest line to the western summit area and had to backtrack a couple times to find a line. Climbed the far west 3rd class summit, then saw the true summit further east and found the register. It was no problem getting up the low 5th class mantel move, but reversing took some thought! I ended up sitting and jumping back to the "launch pad" below the true summit. Very cool summit!
For the return, I thought I would shave off some distance by riding the bike down the road. It either petered out in an eroded wash or I didn't follow it long enough. I ended up finding the old CO trail after bushwacking with a bike and had to wade across the S. Platte because I couldn't find a bridge!

found one buried beer can!
This hike had good views of the damage from the Hayman fire.
One of the guys in our group found a full can of beer buried in the dirt just below the summit. It wasn't cold, so we didn't drink it!
