Good complementary report to mine since you did a different route and included that very interesting history. I never knew before why the Bridge to Nowhere was there. Also confirms that the East Fork drainage is some of the most rugged territory in the San Gabriels.
Since the original post date, has anyone heard of anyone ascending via Rattlesnake Canyon? I did the Bridge-To-Nowhere the other week and was intrigued by a certain canyon which turned out to be this one. Great write up though!
