American Fork Twin peaks-Red Baldy
https://youtu.be/Ft88WivdAzg For a full trip report check out our video at Peaks in the bag on youtube. You drop a lot between red top and Red baldy and the ascent from the saddle to the top of red baldy is for sure the most intense terrain we encountered on this route.

Scramble day
Started at Tibble Fork, and went up to Silver Glance, then straight up the shoot to the summit. We then continued on the ridge to Red Top, AF Twins, and Hidden Peak. Then took the access road from Snowbird over to Mary Ellen Gulch and back down to Tibble Fork. 19.3 miles with 6,400' of elevation gain. Was a magical day!

October 4 2014
My dad led a Wasatch Club trip to Silver Glance Lake. Kimberly, Kessler, Shaylee, my dad, and I met three others at the REI in Sandy before driving to the trailhead. We all hiked to Silver Lake at a moderate pace, but Kim wasn't feeling well and opted to stay at Silver Lake. Shaylee decided to stay with her.
The rest of the group hiked up to Silver Glance Lake, in a beautiful mountain cirque. We were all going to climb up to the Silver Glance/White Pine Pass, but one of the group had to be back early (3 pm), so other than Kessler and I, everyone turned back half way to the pass. Kessler and I climbed as fast as we could up to the pass and then over to Red Baldy. There was a little more scrambling than I remembered and there were a few places where the snow was about a foot deep in places, but we made our way rather quickly to the summit of Red Baldy. It was a beautiful summit, as always.
We only had less than an hour and a half before we were supposed to be back at the trailhead so we decided to try a quicker route down the south face. The route was a pain and we probably should have used the route we ascended.
We made our way down to Silver Lake with only 30 minutes left to make it to the trailhead. We were only a little late and it took us 35 minutes, but rushing it made us tired.
Red Baldy was a nice peak as always, and it was nice to climb it again. The last time I had climbed it was more than 15 years ago.

Scrambling was fun up to Red Baldy! Nice views! I could hear people talking all the way down at White Pine Lake. You lose hope yet again if you decide to do White Baldy. Worth it, though!
White Pine and back with Duc. Left around 11 am and returned about 4:30 pm. Clouds were menacing at times but never unleashed their fury, thankfully.

Red Baldy
I did this as part of the Bullion Divide (Hidden Peak to White Baldy). The views from this summit were great in all directions. One of the best views in the Wasatch I have seen. The route up White Baldy looks pretty rugged from this peak. The descent towards White Baldy was interesting as the rock changed from red to white.
Did as part of the Bullion Divide (took Snowbird Tram up to Hidden peak, then scrambled over AF Twin Peaks, Red Top, Red Baldy, & White Baldy, then descended down White Pine). Red Baldy was quite impressive when viewed from the Red Top/Red Baldy saddle to the northeast, and the peak had some of the most fun steep scrambling of the day. The views south towards Mount Timpanogos, all the lakes down American Fork Canyon (Silver Glance Lake, Silver Lake, Silver Flat Reservoir, & Tibble Fork Reservoir), and the changing fall colors were pretty cool. See "Good As Gold" trip report for details.

Via Silver Lake Flats
Love this peak as the end destination from the Silver Lake Flats. You pass by three Silver Lakes, each getting smaller and less visited along the way. You'll catch them all in a photo from the climb up Red Baldy making a cool pic, with each early in season at different levels of thaw. This was the first peak I used strap-on crampons for. Probably preferable to the scree trudge that late summer will mean.

I decided to do this route to celebrate my birthday today. I drove up to the end of the road past Silver Lake Flat reservoir. I ran from the TH all the way up to Silver Lake in about 30 minutes and then had to route find my way up to Silver Glance (I found a bit of a trail on the way back down). From Silver Glance I decided to go straight up the scree field toward what I figured was the summit. I was amazed at how fast the climbing went and I just scrambled the final 1100 feet up the scree on all fours quite fast. I was blown away by the views from the Summit...might be the best in the Central Wasatch. Highly underrated! I raced down in about an hour and I'm paying for it right now but it feels GOOD!
