An odd overnight solo. Due to work complications at the lodge, my time table got pushed back. I arranged a boat ride from a friend at Rising Sun. I made it there at 6pm. I got dropped off just west of Silver dollar island. I scrambled to the false summit, and watched the sunset while I set my bivy up between a few tall rocks and some moss. I woke up to rain at 6am. The Weather cleared and I hiked over to Mahatopah, where the rain resumed. Thankfully, right near my "Bail time" the skies cleared and I traversed over to Little Chief, summiting around noon. Soon Jackson was throwing storm clouds and I made a hasty descent to the Virginia Creek Drainage. I made it to tree line before the thunderstorm hit. The bushwack through the drainage was not fun, especially with everything soaked. Made it to the GTTS around 5, with the storm still in full force. Hitchhiking back to the Rising Sun boat dock was a challenge, but I was picked up and returned to my car by 6pm.

Whole Traverse
Did the LC to RE traverse starting at Virginia Falls. Descended to trail and then hiked to stashed canoes at Silver Dollar Beach. Hot sunny, smokey day.

Three Wise Men
I did this one with Mahtotapa and Little Chief. it was a fabulous day but we had to walk out in the dark which was also fun!
2011 - w/ Tyler Haasch. Day 1 - Norris Traverse, Day 2 Red Eagle Pass/Meadows Day 3 - Little Chief, Mahtotopa and Red Eagle ridgewalk on the way out to St. Mary.
So many false summits I almost cried. This one was unexpectedly long and I was all alone. It turned out to be a great day. It was my first time exploring that area of the park. The highlight of the day was stopping at "Upper Red Eagle Lake" on the way down in the late afternoon light. It's one of the most beautiful lakes in the park and I caught it at a perfect time. Unforgettable.
