Lovely Mountain
Climbed Redcliff from 2-wheel drive trailhead. Didn't see anyone till the way down. Made the summit by 9:30am. Fantastic views of the San Juan/Cimarron Mountains. Looked back on Courthouse from the day before. 11 year old Sopris and 1 year old Watanga dogs along for the fun.

quick fun climb
4 hours roundtrip; fortunately the weather cooperated, views were still awesome despite clouds. Only one on the mountain.

interesting area
very scenic area with fewer crowds as there are no 14ers or centennials to climb around here. This is a half day hike if you can drive to the end of the road. The scenic qualities were somewhat marred by cattle grazing all the way up into the tundra- trail had several cow wallows and plenty of cow manure. However, the views of Coxcomb and Wetterhorn outweigh the cow problems. The old register has been replaced- unfortunately, the one placed in 2011 was water logged and will likely disintegrate soon
The typical PM storms never materialized, so we were able to do this as a mid-afternoon climb. Reached summit 5PM, to great views of Coxcomb, Wetterhorn, Uncompahgre, Precipice, Courthouse, etc. Then setup camp in the meadows on the W side of peak, just before thunder and rain came at sunset. Unforgettable day!

Excellent rewards!
Summited via west fork approach. Nasty bit of effort required to make the saddle between coxcomb and redcliff. But as soon as you make the saddle views of wetterhorn and uncompahgre make the remaining several hundred feet seem easy.
The challenge was not to summit, it was to keep track of the van full of 14 year olds I was acting as a guide for on this trip! They all made it. Classic Colorado mountain. Very worth checking out.

Cool peak in the spectacular CimarronsThis was an easy jaunt after we made a double rope rappel off the north face of Coxcomb.

Middle Fk. approachTook the long way and got amazing views... so lush it felt like the Alps and Coxcomb looks like a sword in the air...
