Via Gimpelhaus
Absolutely splendid hike with great views. Enjoyed watching the climbers on Gimpel. Have to com eback there with my climbing rope in my rucksack. Cold and refreshing beer at Gimpelhaus.
Route Climbed: Several Date Climbed: Summers 1981/82
It is fun climbing there though it's a bit crowded. Since it is a really fully directed to the south it can become very warm, even in winter. There is a nice place below the south face you can watch fellow climbers and comment on their progress ;-) We did several easy and not so easy routes. Best of which was the 'Direct South Pilar' I have some good photos of, showing we were not the best 'free climbers' then. I'll post them as soon as having scanned them. Today this route (and others) have very good bolts, I think it is rated some UIIA grade VII or up. I'll add some route infos.
Peter.
PS: When reaching the summit of 'Rote Flueh' you can traverse to the bottom of 'Gimpel' south face (see there) very quickly. Very convenient ;-)

Route Climbed: SE-face, S-Verschneidung, Dir. S-face, SW-Kante Date Climbed: several timesA great mountain for climbing in spring or fall, when it's too cold for more alpine stuff.
