This awesome photo comes courtesy of Dean. He said that this prime
piece of California granite was so HOT, that he had to shield his eyes
with cheap sunglasses when he looked at it.
This comes from the 'Round Top' trip he completed with Dennis in the
totally amazing Mokelumne Wilderness, somewhere between Fourth of July
Lake and Winnemucca Lake, and a massive cloud of mosquitoes!!
Seriously, a landmark called 'The Sisters' was very close by, so these
men were in very GOOD company, I'm sure!!! :)
Nestled between Hwy 88 and Hwy 4, Mokelumne Wilderness spans THREE
National Forests - Eldorado, Toiyabe and Stanislaus. Its deep, glacially
carved and forested canyons at elevations as low as 4,000ft. yield to
dark, rocky ridges and fantastic summits of volcanic rock.
Round Top (10,381'), is its highest peak. Compared with other parts of
the Sierra Nevada, Mokelumne Wilderness has uncrowded trails, expansive
scenery, verdant, rolling, rock-crowned ridges and plenty of lakes for
swimming and fishing.
And when this photo was taken, the Mokelumne Wilderness had Dean and Dennis !!!!!!!!!!!
