Round Top - Winnemucca Lakes Loop
Amazing wildflower displays below the lakes, and hardly *any* people. Winnemucca was an unexpected gem. Made it partway up the summit scramble before turning back - just didn't have the legs for it that day.

East to West
Been up here a few times, one of our go-to's. The East ridge route was very challenging and fun

After work trail run
Great trail run from Woods Lake. Took the trail to Round Top Lake, then up to the saddle and up west ridge. Fun scrambling up along the summit ridge. Great views in the late-afternoon glow, with plenty of Coast Range peaks visible, as well as a fire burning in Nevada County (Rices Fire). Went down and out via Winnemucca Lake. Only saw 1 other party, near the trailhead. Glorious.

Nice dayhike from Woods Lake
Nice dayhike from Woods Lake via the standard route. There is in fact a bit of cl 3 between the false and the true summit but nothing to really worry about.

Long day with lots of snowshoeing
We made it to the top, but the climb was quite outside the comfort zone with my hiking partner. Just before getting to the trailhead, she got lost and I had to call Search and Rescue to find her.

West Pinnacle
A beautiful day from Woods Lake via Roundtop Lake. Carson Pass trailhead closed due to Tamarack fire shutting down the Pacific Crest Trail.
Snowshoe from Carson Pass. Climbed icy rocks and snow up the West side to summit block.

Made it
I led a group of 15 hikers from our local trail running group up to the top. About 6 of us went on to tag the "official" summit on the east end of the mountain, the others weren't comfortable about doing that.
Slept at Winnemucca because it was the cheapest nearby option and I like backpacking. Bagged Round Top on a winy morning, found the class 3 scramble very fun. Fun reading in the register.

Both Sisters and Round Top
Hiked up to Round Top Lake with my brother Alan, bagged Round Top's true east summit, then bagged both Sisters via ridge with Collin; descended from the east/west col to Round Top Lake. There was a little snow on the high slopes from a recent storm... not enough to ski but it didn't prevent one couple from dragging their gear up there anyway.

Climbed the West Ridge with my buddy Dave. This was a good warmup in soft snow; we were glad we brought our snow shoes.

Climbed with my buddy Brian; expected winter conditions and got it (snow); temp was in the high 70s. Impressive views down the east ridge from the summit.

Wow!
What an unbelievable summit! This was my first major summit attempt and man was it fun. Started from Carson Pass towards Round Top Lake. Couldn’t find a trail towards the peak so we cut a line towards the open ridge. Very simple and straightforward heading up into the rock and up to the false summit. Headed over to actual summit which at first looked a bit scary. Found a nice little chute on the south side of the summit block with great holds and went right up easily. Crystal clear day over the Sierras gave us amazing views. Very light breeze as well. Sat on the block for a bit and ate lunch and just enjoyed the views. Probably saw 12-15 people on the trail. Seems like the majority didn’t make their way over to the summit block. What an exceptional hike!

Nice Tahoe area hike
Done this a couple times. The last 40-50 feet is a scramble. This peak has more bench marks on it than Whitney which is saying something.

Was A Test for Winter Mountaineering
It was a success! The sun broke through the clouds as we crested the saddle just below the summit. Absolutely breathtaking view. I learned to always carry snowshoes in winter regardless what you think the snow conditions will be.
