Worth the Detour
Very wild area (as I learned coming from the south and getting lost in the state forest). The steep climb up, the views and the cool fire tower (class 4) made this worth a special trip. Saw a coyote on the wav down.

No Crowds Here
It was a great autumn day to hike on Saddle Mound. Did not see anyone, except one odd guy. This summit, like Wildcat Mound in Clark County, is not polished. But it is a good hike with a near-wilderness feel to it.
