Climbed with Kelly on a roadtrip. This was a very green and interesting hike. The trees were amazing, and combination chain-link and dirt trail was new for me. The summit view was a confusing mix of peaks, ocean, and logged forest.

Oregon CoHP Outing
Fun hike with interesting trees and vegetation and great views. Very cold, windy, and rainy. Fun time with CoHPers Bob Bolton, Roy Wallen, Fred Lobdell, Xander Carlson, and son Ryan.

Quick trip up with the kid. 7yo kids have way too much energy.

Too much Fog
The fog rolled in just as I got to the summit, so no view to be had.

Awesome Peak!
This peak has intrigued me for some time. The appearance and prominence of it sticks out like a sore thumb from southwestern Washington and northwestern Oregon. Great trail, except for slipping a few times from the rain (or perhaps from exhaustion from the big weekend), and the low clouds ruined views.
This peak completed my big highpointing weekend that stretched west from Strawberry Mountain to Saddle Mountain. Seven CoHPs during the trip, 11 summits overall, and nearly 1350 miles RT.

Perfect Weather
Great hike and the trail was just redone. The new trail is perfectly groomed and has fencing that is along the ground all the way to the summit making sliding not a issue at all. Awesome hike.
Hiked Saddle Mountain a number of times when I lived up in Astoria. One hike, during a snowy period in the winter, stands out in my memory. The photo on SummitPost is similar to snow conditions when we went up that winter. Fun times!

Avoid weekends
My girlfriend and I visited for the wildflowers and the views, and were not disappointed on either count. We were less thrilled with the third element of the equation... lots of other visitors. Next time we will visit on a weekday.

Yikes!!!
Epic Fog, super windy and raining sideways. After standing on the summit, I hid behind a boulder below the summit in hopes of the storm to pass. No success, so no views... First one up in the morning, hung out for 30 minutes at the boulder seeing no people. Passed over 50 on the way down... Yikes... Muddy trail, cool rock formations.... Lots of great flowers...

Esay with Nice Views
This was an easy hike. Very busy trail with lots of people. There are a few trees across trail, but easy to get around. Lots of wire placed on trail to hold it together. Was only 4.5 miles round trip. Weather was sunny, windy and mild.

Since when was chain link
Part of a "natural" landscape. Felt more like climbing a broken down escalator at the mall, with guard rails at the summit. Worked up a good sweat going up.
