Great view
Beautiful place with views over many glaciers. A satisfying climb even if you come the easy way.

Klettersteig Saeuleck.
From Arthur von Schmid. Perfect weather conditions. Very hard but safe ferrata. Exciting, exposed, windy, impressive. You have to be in very good physical condition. There is no any escape route possibilities. I climbed with Sene. We climbed very slow. Took it 5 hours.

from Arthur von Schmid
Started at 8.00 in the morning from the parking place in the valley, around 1400 m. Arrived before 10 AM at Arthur von Schmid haus where I took a nap for an hour or so :-). After that, on my way to the summit, I joined a Norwegian couple and had a nice trip together, compensating the weather which was not the best but not very bad either. We were able to to look around for very short seconds between the clouds. Berg Heil!
From AvS Haus, bad weather and no view... The normaly easy acsent became a little difficult cause of the snowfall.
On the way back to the the hut, the summit came free of clouds again. I had sjust bad luck I think.

Bad westher
Ascended from Athur v. Schmid Haus and reached the top in 2 hours. Weather was bad with fog and a little snow on the rocks. Visibility most of the time only 100-200 meters. I continued along the Detmolder Weg. The cables were howevever iced over. I had planned to climb Hochalmspitze as well, but by Schneewinklspitze I gave up and walked down. I will have to come back - the views must be splendid.

Normal route
Ascended via the hut Arthur-von-Schmid-Haus, the south slopes and the SE ridge (normal route). Summited rather late around 3:30 p.m. after a late start, a long ascent (1.600 m) and a unhurried lunch break at Arthur-von-Schmid-Haus. So we had the summit just for us. Nice view to Ankogel, Hochalmspitze and down to the Doesner lake. Descended via SE-ridge, the notch "Mallnitzer Scharte" and along the Doesner lake.
I can recommend Arthur-von-Schmid-Haus in any way (nice location, excellent food, friendliness...).

Came previous day to Artur von Schmid-Haus, set up a tent some 100m above it. Left all equipment a little further towards the mountain and ascended it via the normal route. Nice panorama.

It was a nice climb with a hot weather. There are many unbeliveable views. It's a long route but it's great! A week after our climb the Austrian Mountain Rescue Team have found the body of a hungarian climber who had been lost on Sauleck a year before.
Route Climbed: normal route from Arthur-von-Schmid-Haus Date Climbed: July 26th 1988
easy ascent on a peak with a splendid panorama. We had breakfast on the summit and continued following the ridge (it is a via ferrata, but requires some experience) to the Hochalmspitze and descended over the glacier to the Osnabruecker hut.

Route Climbed: Detmolder Weg Date Climbed: September 11th 2004We started our climbing tour on the Saeuleck and Schneewinkelspitze in parkplace in Gossgraben.
We ascended to the Giessner hut and after Schwarzburger Weg to the Lassacher Winkelscarte.
Then we followed the Detmolder Weg over Schneewinkelspitze and to the Saeuleck. The route is nice "ferrata" with a lot of airy places.
We descended from Saeuleck to the Mallnitzer scharte and came back to the Giessner hut over south slopes of Saeuleck and Schneewinkelspitze.
Nice route with a lot of nice views!
