First winter ascent of Baldy
Bluebird conditions with soft snow on the descent
StartingOver - May 31, 2015 1:02 pm Date Climbed: May 30, 2015
Great hike but steep
Hiked to the top via the Ski Hut trail, then took the Devil's backbone trail down to Baldy Notch (with a stop off to summit Mt. Harwood), and wimped out by taking the ski lift the rest of the way down.

great trail
the face of the bowl is amazing up close, and the spring water is delicious. first view of a bighorn sheep in the wild.

fun snow climb
Got off-route in the bowl and had to don the crampons, but from the bowl it was a fun snow climb to the summit. Returned via Devil's Backbone/fire road. 1 ft of snow on average that mostly fell 2 days before. No need for snowshoes since it had already mostly set up.

Weekend hike with my Dad on both 7/14 and 8/25 (this is our favorite way up Baldy). However took the backbone trail down. Great views, but a little crowded as always.

Beauty!
Wanted to get an Alpine start, my bed said no. Got on the trail at 9:45ish and up on top by 1 or so. Came back down to the east and skipped the bowl. Burned A LOT of calories and ticked another one off the list. Great day and great views and ominous fog rolled in...

Manker to Baldy then over Devil's Backbone to the Notch. Took service road back to Manker Flat. Awesome all around hike. Done a few times.

1st Time on Baldy
Got stuck behind a group of five that were 1) Not speaking any english, and 2) did not seem to want to let anyone get past them! Otherwise, a beautiful day, and a great trail. I have heard about the ski hut over and over, but I never imagined how beautiful it would be!

Great hike
Hiked up to Ski Hut from Mankers Flat and up to Mount Baldy on a nice and warm day in June. Quite cold and windy on the summit.
