SE Ridge/SE "Couloir" Direct
I swear that this isn't some desperation move to up my summit count at SP! I wanted this hill, I admit it, so I picked the most abnoxious line I could see as it was my birthday and that was through a cemetary, though heavy bushwack, though a mucky ravine, up 80 ft. of class 3 rock!, though more bushwhack, then some more class three rock and bushwhack to summit. You can see the rock sections from 280 so I'm not full of it. Strangest thing of all: when I was half way, in deep brambles of poison oak and buck brush, I found an old barbie doll, and from the way she was dressed, it must have been from 1975. Dropped by a bird or by aliens? The descent was more direct, but I did have to exit though the city dump. Happy Birthday to me :)
Route Climbed: The lazy man's way... Date Climbed: May 29, 2005
Almost embarassed to say I took the time to go up this. Spending a nice weekend in SF, I was itching to stretch the legs after dinner. Wasn't sure of the preferred route, so I bushwhacked through some of that poison oak and other shrubbery (got something funky going on with my left leg now...swelling, red...ugh), tagged the summit, and flew back down the other side. The 15 feet of class 4-5 rock just below the summit and just above the road was the ONLY enjoyable part of the route. The views through the passing clouds were good at least.
Also tagged the summit of another impressive, uh, mountain in the area that morning...Hawk Hill!
Route Climbed: Summit Loop Trail Date Climbed: 22 May 2005
Drove my car to the top on blmcclain's advice to park in the "far lot". Summitted. Drove back down, hiked up like the pro athletes that we are. Summitted. Didn't do the class 4/5 downclimb because the 4.7 feet of exposure was too sceery. And someone had to take photos.
Route Climbed: Summit loop trail Date Climbed: 22nd May, 2005
Got off my butt from a lazy weekend and hiked up San Bruno Mountain with rgreene. Views were Ok with a little haze. Scrambled on some Class 4/low 5.x near the summit and was back at the trailhead in 1h20min. Nice easy hike to do when you're looking for something to do.
