Did the tram shoe in less than ideal weather. Couldn't see anything from the summit. Still good fun and a very impressive mountain especially from the north and east

Tramshoeing
Took the tram up. Camped through a snow storm. Woke up to fresh powder and blue skies! Doesn't get any better than that...

Cactus to Cloud
Did Cactus to Cloud with other 10 hikers.
Last 1,500 ft to the peak was covered with snow. And we didn't have snowshoes nor crampons, but made it.
I hiked down all the way back to the trailhead, but everybodyelse took the cable car.
Total of 26 miles and 11,800 ft elevation gain. Took 15 hours including big lunch break at cable car station and peak. Cactus to Cloud Trip Report

winter storm funtime
Climbed solo in winter storm from Idyllwild, a fun mountain. Every tree, rock and bush was encased in ice above 8,000! Don't be caught beneath a pine tree covered in ice when the wind blows!

Skyline Trail from the Art Museum and from Humber Park
#1 11-17-10 With Brent. Ideal weather. 9+44 up, Aerial Tram (heaven) down. #2 11-08-24 W/Lana. Humber Park TH. Bluebird day - cloudless. Little wind. 6+27 up. GPS showed r/t mileage of 16.1 and elevation gain of 4,650'. The two hardest parts of this hike were driving to the TH in the dark and the final 50 vertical feet (the scramble). Hard to believe that 14 years had gone by since I first did this peak. This peak marked #91 in my now expanded 80in80 quest. Lana was a super trooper today.
Mount San Jacinto is very impressive, and definitely one of my favorite mountains in South California. The rocky North and East Faces rise sharply above the desert floor, while the South and West Faces rise more gradually from the valley. A nice pine forest covers most of the massif, along with a multitude of amazing granite boulders and spires scattered across ridges, peaks, and just about everywhere on the mountain.
Have done Round Valley from Tram in December and Fuller Ridge in September.
