CA County HP #30
Long anticipated summit, lived up to its expectations. Via Round Valley since I didn't have time for Snow Creek or CtC.

Seizing the day
Myself and 2 coworkers went up the tramway and then hiked up to the peak. What an incredible hike! Beautiful views at every turn, and a nice, easy trail to the summit. The elevation gain of 2,400 feet was spread fairly evenly across 5 + miles of trail. Trail markers are not the most accurate. Maps say 5.8 miles from the tramway to the summit, trail markers say 5.5, and my Garmin says 5.15.

Finally did this one
This peak was on my list for a long while. Took the tram up and then hiked to/from without a hitch.
There were *many* people at the summit on a weekend. Yeesh. Views from the top were as expected, but it was unreal to see ranges all the way to the Mexican border from a stretch of the trail just below.

From the tram
Hiked with Brendan (barely 11 yrs old). Great views. Tram was closed prior day due to the thunderstorms in the area.

Training Hike
There were patches of snow pretty early on from the start of the hike about 2 miles into it. No yack tracks were necessary....I summitted in waterproof hiking boots. Some sections are blocked by snow and a little tricky to navigate. There was snow and some icy sections near the last .3 miles to the top.
Pretty moderate to heavy traffic early in the day. Our tram left at 12:00 noon so we were some of the last to summit. Lots of people summiting this day.
The weather was beautiful, nice and sunny, not too cold or windy. I had 2 layers, beanie, yoga pants, and gloves and I was warm while hiking. I had my down jacket for the resting stops.
My partner got altitude sickness on the way down.
I recommend the food at the bar if you take the tram including the salmon appi and the portabella mushroom, brie & candied apricot pizza.
All in all, a great training hike!

Devil's Slide Trail
Mid-December hike from Humber Park, with 6-12 inches of snow on most of the trail. Took about 3.5 hours up, and 6.5 hours round trip. My 32nd ultra prominence peak.

What a difference the gym makes
Second time up this peak from Marion Mountain Campground. Beat my time massively from my first outing here. Marion Mountain is a great place to camp and attempt this peak from.

Adventure 16 3-Peak Challenge!
Climbed this as part of the Adventure 16 3-Peak Challenge. I hiked Mount San Antonio, Mount San Gorgonio, and Mount San Jacinto in three days (nearly 41 miles). Very challenging! For this third and final peak, I camped at the San Gorgonio Family Campground (has showers!) for a second night then drove to San Jacinto and hiked up the San Jacinto Peak Trail. I almost got turned back due to the threat of thunderstorms but the skies finally cleared in the afternoon. I was then able to complete the 3-Peak Challenge!!!

Started at the Palm Springs Museum at 3:00 A.M. and after a brief stop at the tram continued on up to the summit. Weather and views were perfect.

San Jacinto
Fabulous hike and peak. Everything was enjoyable about this one from the tram ride up, to the hike, to the awesome views from the summit, to the beers back at the gondola station. On my descent I went over to Jean Peak and made my way down from there. This hike completed the "3 Saints" over the three day weekend. Ultra number #36 for me, only leaving Eddy to get all the California Ultra's. California CoHP # 16.

Devil's Slide to PCT
Devil's slide to the summit, camped overnight in little round valley. Then continued to join the PCT back to Devil's slide. A decent amount of extra distance/elevation, but definitely worth it. Beautiful area.

round valley
Was going to camp at Round Valley but arrived in PS too late so took he 8am tram instead. Easy hike to summit.
No register there. Ranger said they want to "preserve the wilderness experience" meaning that that they must remove them whenever they find them.
Also the ranger said they leave camping permits outside the office at Long Valley for anyone to pick up if they take a late tram or arrive after the office closes (at about 5:30)
Hard to "preserve the wilderness experience" when the summit is absolutely swarming with people!

Started from museum at 3A. Made the peak at 1P. Weather was great, with sunny warm temps and a slight breeze. Went on short hike off the main trail to Miller Peak on the way back to the tram.
