Of the local peaks, I've been up Mt San Antonio (Mt Baldy) the most...well over 200 times but have been on more rescue missions on the Mt. San Antonio vicinity. Probably because of the tram or the fact that the PCT goes near by. I've been up via 11 different trails/routes from different sides and has a surprising number of springs/streams for a high local "desert" peak. Even has a cool hut near the summit. Hardest way up for me was up from Windy Point while doing structural geology work on the way up. On one decent down Snow Creek back in the seventies, we incountered rattlesnakes actually three feet up in the bushes we were plowing through...scary!

Easy as pie
Nice easy hike from the tram to the summit. Hiked a granny pace and made the summit in three hours. 110+ degrees in the valley, only 68 degrees at the summit.
First Jacinto hike in the summer. Kinda boring with no snow, but still a nice way to spend the day.
Went with Wes again. He had to #2 on the summit, but he was nice enough to keep the turtle at bay until we reached Round Valley's composting toilets. We should all strive to be as strong as Wes.

small world
First time on SJ peak!! Made the summit in 4 hours via Marion Mtn. TH. Not too bad for me considering we did the Tahquitz Rock to Tahquitz peak hike on Saturday.
Awesome weather and an equally awesome trail. Saw a friend (Nick)I have not seen in over 12 years. Very cool to look down Snow creek from the top...impressive.

San Jacinto to Marion Traverse
Fourth time up; first time traversing over Jean to Marion with challenging snow conditions (see Jean log). Summited in 3 h 20 minutes from Devil's Slide and didn't stay long due to dozens of Boy Scouts on my tails. Had Jean and Marion to myself.
I climbed this peak by various routes in various seasons from 1999-2004, including an interesting winter bushwack/scramble via Folly Peak.

Snow Creek-King!
This was my 4th time on Snow Creek and I still enjoy it tremendously. It has become an annual climb for me. This time it was quite the social climb as I climbed with 10 other SP'ers: Luis, Jason, Kevin, Mike, Rick, Tina, David, Roman, Ryan and Jon. Started at 4:20am. Summited by 3:45pm. Back at the Tram by 6pm. All in all, an awesome day out near Palm Springs! Pics here.

Cactus to Clouds
Backpacked from Palm Springs to Round Valley and summited the next day, took the tram back down. Because of all the snow, we saw nobody else hiking the trails and nobody else camping, either. Last 1000' to the tram was icy but crampons helped. Incredible 360 degree panorama.
and you never know what old friends you'll run into on the summit.

My son Lance (age 19) and I had the summit to ourselves. Breezy and cool - beautiful day. Have to say thanks to a local named Todd who probably didn't summit (he had summited earlier in the month using skis) but gave us some good info on the way up.
