Ski!
Simple skiing and skinning from June Mtn ski resort. Topped out with lots of rock exposure and firmly textured snow. Not the best conditions, but hey....it's a summit on skis!

First SPS peak
Lost the trail for a bit and only saw one other person reach the summit that day. This seems unusual considering how close it is to Mammoth Lakes and that it was a busy holiday weekend the day I climbed it.
Left the car at 6:30 am from Minaret vista. Made it to San Joaquin summit about 10am. Saw my first other hiker on the return after passing the Two Teats. Then only saw 5 more people, all way back down by the 4x4 trail. Bit hazy from smoke, but not terrible.
Bailed on climbing in Yosemite due to a bad weather forecast and raced up this instead as thunder clouds built.

Smoke evasion
Thankfully Yosemite's Ferguson fire did not dull the views, which were awesome. Register dates from 2012 and is in surprisingly good condition -- a trail running trio just ahead of me was the first to summit in a week, and I saw no other hikers behind me. Intense rain a couple days before had partially washed out the first steep downhill section of the trail.
After dayhiking Middle Palisade the day before, this was a pleasant 12.1 mile hike along the ridge line from Minaret Summit. Although a 4x4 road can be found to drive up another nearly two miles, I just hiked it in the afternoon and was done in five hours. Fantastic views of the Minarets, Banner, Ritter, Mono Lake, the Glass Mountain Range, and even all the way to Boundary and Montgomery.

Post-Holio!
From Minaret Vista and snaking along the ridge the day after a great snowfall. Ground coverage was anything from dry cinder to crotch-deep fresh snow. Lots of rime and tall drifts. Beautiful cold day to get first prints in the snow. Tagged Two Teets as well. :)

With MD, our second attempt. Two years earlier we were thwarted by brutal winds, also during winter.
11hrs ctc. Spectacular views. Ice ax was very handy after dead man summit. Carried but did not end up using crampons and snow shoes.
