Anyway, our photos from Christmas Eve turned out well. A similar one of the same place in April did not, although at similar time of day. I assume it was the time of year. The low angle winter sun makes less contrasting shadows and the light bounces off the walls to reach the bottom of the arch instead of shines down partly on the arch. Most of the other places seemed easier to get good photos in April versus December.

Re: Color ChangeYes, that's a very nice photo you have. When we went, it was sunny, but it was also Christmas Eve. At that time of year, the sun doesn't shine in there late in the day.
