Slender lizardfishKarcsú gyíkhal (32 cm) Sides of jaws with tiny teeth. Occurs on sand or rubble of silty lagoon and protected seaward reefs, 1 to 135 m. Common along the base of reefs, often partly buried. An ambushing predator of small fishes, capable of amazing burst of speed. Changes ambush sites regularly. Range: Red Sea to Fr. Polynesia, north to Ryukyu and Hawaiian Is., south to S. Africa and GBR (Great Barrier Reef).
