Corridor Route  Sucess!

My wife and I climbed this while she was 3 months pregnant and in the throes of morning sickness. We had a good time though, we took a wrong turn near the summit and ended up scrambling up a gulley but we made the summit in really foggy conditions and were blessed with some sunshine on the way out.

ran the Langdale pikes, Scafell, Esk Pike, Bowfell and Crinkle Crags one lovely early summer day. A good circuit which I will do again! Been up these hills many times though.

Scafell Pike from Seathwaite over Corridor Route  Sucess!

My first hike in Lake District. Summit in clouds and windy but a beautiful hike. You can´t imagine that this beautiful region is under 1000 m altitude. It´s similar to the Alps in 2200 m.

Route Climbed: From Seathwaite. Return via the Corridor route. Date Climbed: 17.09.94  Sucess!

Another hill that I have subsequently climbed numerous times. Again the first time was special. I had no real hill craft, but was lucky in that we had excellent weather. The highlight was a cracking return via the Corridor Route. This walk became the start of a life long hobby.

Route Climbed: From Great Moss Date Climbed: Autumn 2001  Sucess!

Bivied at the foot of Scafell after walking in from the car. Went to sleep in damp miserable weather, woke to sun and blue skies, and had fantastic views from the summit!

Date Climbed: February 2005  Sucess!

Beautiful warm day and not a cloud in the sky (in February?). Approached from car park below Wrynose Pass, which was fun in the ice! Walked up through the fields and then into the higher valley before cutting across the river into a gully that led to the pass immediately below the summit. Then combined walk with Sca Fell. Excellent Day.

Route Climbed: Wasdale Head Date Climbed: May 2005  Sucess!

Its meant to be summer!! Freezing cold and very wet. And a load of Nutters on the path doing a triathlon, swimming across Windermere, cycling to Scafell Pike, then running up it! Have they nothing better to do!

Route Climbed: Wasdale Head / Brown Tongue / Lingmell Col Date Climbed: July 2005  Sucess!

Climbed up via Brown Tongue and Lingmell Col in bad weather - cloud from about 650m severly reduced visibility, and high winds rendered the summit pretty inhospitable. We intended to descend via Great End but due to the bad weather decided to descend the way we went up. Hope to get up again and make it a more interesting day out.

Route Climbed: Corridor route Date Climbed: November 2003  Sucess!

I've heard there is amazing veiws from the top, but I didn't see them. Visability was about 5 metres, which made things quite difficult. I literally dragged my mum up the last scramble.

On the way down it got dark (being November very early) but had luckely reach the strem, which I could follow back to Seathwaite

As a Cumbrian I have been "summiting" the pike since I was a lad! The Corridor Route, Brown Tongue from Wasdale, The Styhead Route and the Esk Hause Route. Done 'em all, summer and winter.

Route Climbed: from Boot via Scafell Date Climbed: May 2004  Sucess!

The descent down little narrow cove and the upper Eskdale was pleasantly quiet after the summit bank-holiday hordes.

Route Climbed: From Eskdale over the top and down to Wasdale Date Climbed: 14 August 2004  Sucess!

Spledid approach from Eskdale, a stunningly wild little valley and virtually deserted of people. Sadly no view from the summit but we bivied down at hollow stones for the night and only got a little damp!

Route Climbed: from Great Langdale Date Climbed: 16th April 2003  Sucess!

Was in the Lake District for work, but I made sure I found time to climb the highest mountain in England.

As luck has it I chose a lovely day for it, though I left too late so didn't have time to return via Esk Pike and Bow Fell as intended. Instead I went down the way I came up and was back in time for dinner and a few drinks in the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel.
