Long day out
After a long approach from Seathwaite over Esk Hause, ascended Scafell via a scramble up Cam Spout Crag, then a scary descent (solo & unroped) down Broad End, to ascend Scafell Pike (for 2nd time) and then took in summits of Ill Crag and Great End before descending back down Esk Hause again and on to Seathwaite.

Traverse
I had camped north of Scafell and west of Scafell Pike, at around 550m. From my camp side, I had a good look at the north side of Scafell and saw two different gullies that might well be easy enough to scramble up on. However, I couldn't clearly see the whole route, and had no information as to the difficulties I might encounter, so there might be more to it than what I could see. Besides, my BMC map showed no dotted lines. As I carried a full pack, I decided not even to try it, and instead went over Mickledore to the other side and walked and scrambled up via Foxes tarn, then descended the easy way down to Wasdale.
From Mickledore, Broad Stand looked very inviting, but I would definitely want a rope and a partner for that.

Scafell + Scafell Pike
With my Irish mate Colm. Lord's Rake - Scafell - Broad Stand - Scafell Pike. Broad Stand ropeless downclimb a wee bit scary on wet rock but fun. Pints were had at Wasdale Head where we also camped the night.

First of many
I've now done this classic peak many times. It's much better than the tourist Scafell Pike nearby!

via Ill Crag and Scafell Pike
On a fantastic clear day. Scrambled up Ill Crag from Eskdale, on to Scafell Pike, then Scafell via Broad Stand (thankful for the fixed ropes on the very wet, greasy rock) and finally down the south ridge.

Climbed along with the Pike a few years ago - just wish it was more accessible from lower down the M6, then I would have done it loads of times like Hevellyn!
