Scodie Mountain summit panorama

This is why you came. On a clear day you can see range after range for over 100 miles, varying from High Sierra alpine peaks to the desert peaks of Death Valley. The pyramidal high point left of center is Owens Peak. The high point right of Owens is Jenkins Peak. Less distinct, but right of Jenkins is Morris Peak. Left of Owens is the barely visible (in this photo--clear as day in person!) Olancha Peak. Still less distinguisahable in this view are Mount Langley and Mount Whitney at the left margin. To the right of Owens are the Maturango Mountains in the middle distance, and the Panamint Range in the far distance. Telescope Peak is the high point on the horizon about 1/3 of the way in from the right. February 12, 2006.
