Dang That Was Steep !
I parked my Jeep approximately 1,000 vertical feet below the gate. There's a nice flat spot to park there and it's right before it gets really steep. That road is in horrible condition and I was glad that I parked so low. Except for the antennas and building it sure was nice up there. Hiked up with my 2 dogs.

Scrub Peak
Drove to 6400' and walked just to stretch the legs. The gate has been rendered ineffective.

Scrub
Drove to gate. Road in good shape. Hiked a loop to Scrub and "Tahoari" (6295). Then did 7 other peaks. Beaver Dam Mountains Wilderness Highpoint, 5042, 5154, 5155, West Black Ridge, 3010, and Webb Hill. West Black Ridge was the most interesting of the lot. It was twilight when we got there. The nice man at the gate house let us drive in to do 3010 as it was a few minutes before dark. That one was very satisfying as the highpoint was supposed to be in someones back yard, but relandscaping had made it obvious and accessible. Webb Hill was creepy in the dark but had nice views of the city lights.

Scrub
I was able to drive up to the gate with minimal trouble. Steep road but in relatively good condition. I hiked up the road from there with my parents. First peak I've bagged with my mom since 1999. Great views in all directions, perfectly clear day. After Scrub BM we drove up to Bulldog Pass and did the Beaver Dam Mountains Wilderness area HP, Peak 5284.

Cold and windy
It took much longer to get to the hike than to actually do the hike. It was steep and my legs were burning but then it was a quick run back to the car. Seeing some bighorn sheep on the trail was definitely awesome! I've never seen some in the wild like that before.

Bighorn Sheep!
Drove all the way up to where the gate is---RIDICULOUSLY steep! Parked at the gate and Brita and I ran up to the summit. It may be short, but the road is insanely steep! When we came around the corner to where the summit is in view, we saw 4 Bighorn Sheep with, well, big horns! They were near the summit. I snapped a picture when we got close enough and then they ran off shortly thereafter. It was pretty cold and windy on the summit, so we took some pictures, ate a granola bar and drank some fluid and ran back with the sun setting. It was pretty nice. Easiest peak I've ever done physically, but getting there was a bit of a pain but not unbearable.

Road Hike
Dean and I hiked up what was left of a washed out road. Kind of cold and windy on top, but grat views!

Road is gone
Parked near the "Dead End" sign because the winter storms have wiped out the road. i doubt it'll ever be restored since choppers can service the intallations at the top. Dennis and I walked up the road, 6 miles and 2500 feet in two hours and walked back down in one. Don't do this one in hot weather. My second visit to the top but a bit more effort than the last time when the road cut out half the distance and elevation gain.
Did this one with my 13-year old daughter on a warm July morning while taking her to camp. The road is steep and the views are worth it.

Tougher on the Car
This peak was tougher on my car than the hike was on me. The road was pretty steep, but the Jimmy made it. I also hiked this one coming home from Vegas. Greg and I took a little trip to get Charleston and Hayford - picked Scrub up on the way home.
