Backpacked a day prior into Granite Lake, spent the day swimming and fishing, caught 6 Brookies over two days between the group. On the second day we day hiked up to Seven Up Peak. Straight forward, great views up top to Trinity Lake, Shasta & Lassen, and deeper into the Alps.

A while ago!
Nice hike. We had a view of the fires in the area.

Granite lake/Bear basin
My dog always appreciates a walk-up peak with a nice snow bank on top

Granite Lake Overnight
A quick overnight at Granite Lake for some good fishing and dayhiking. Nice hike from Granite Lake up the the peak. Also lots of smoke in the air from the recent fires. I had just been through the area 2 years before on a weeklong trip and noticed the trail was much more brushy.
Nice little jaunt from (uncomfortable, but with great views) camp at 7 Up Gap with Faith. Stupendous views (esp. of Shasta, but then again, how could that not be?!), & had the place to ourselves. Did 4 Lakes Loop & Siligo after that, followed by going back up to 7 Up Gap, then north along the mountainside to the Black Basin/Bear Basin trail junction. Long day.

First venture into the Amazing Trinity Alps
A recon mission into the Trinity Alps Wilderness with the lady and beast. Camped at crowded and not so great Granite Lake the first night (not very many good camping options here, very overgrown). Then up to Seven Up Peak. Opted against venturing down into Deer Creek to check out the Four Lakes Loop, although that is entirely possible in a day from Granite Lake. Instead, heading around Seven Up and into Bear Basin. Bear Basin is fantastic a ghost town compared to festive Granite Lake. Then followed Bear Basin back to the car at Swift Ck TH.
