Shaffer Mountain area

About a mile south of the turnoff for Shaffer Mountain, a historical marker has been established on the east side of the highway. It is worth a stop to read about some of the history of the area as noted on this marker. The Nobles trail is an amazing story and more can be found about it HERE. Take the time to read about some of the other trails on the above link and if you ever get the chance, be sure and stop at the California Trails Information center found about 10 miles west of Elko Nevada.
