Shastina in Summer

Shastina had lost much of its snowcover by mid-July 2005. Clarence King Lake is easily visible in the crater to the right side, and Sisson Lake sits in the saddle below. An unnamed lake at 11,980 feet is just visible in the crater to the left below the volcano's highpoint. Together the three lakes form the highest subaerial lakes in the Cascade Range. Click here for a similar photo of Shastina from the same vantage point in early spring, and click here for a closeup of Lake 11980.
