Shirley at the start of the...

Shirley at the start of the chimneying portion (this is the easier part of the pitch IMHO) of pitch three of Epinephrine. Lower section (below) her (if you follow Supertopo's recommendations) involves some funky stemming and jamming (~5.9) around a thin but huge flake (or alternatively what looked like a .9+ squeeze chimney). There's another party at the belay atop P2 below. For a high-resolution version of this (well - sorta...) photo click here (May 22, 2005).

Sweet Photos!

We were actually slated to climb this a week ago, but changed destinations when we saw the forecasted temperatures as well. Tahquitz was beautiful and mostly cool temps but our longest climb was only 7 pitches.

Re: Sweet Photos!

Thanks Brutus.

Right decision though the chimney sections of Epinephrine were not that bad compared to sunlit faces...

Not a lot of pro

You must have been in the zone. I would have put a ton more protection than that in a 5.9 chimney!

Great action shots, as usual.

Re: Not a lot of pro

Thanks Martin!

About the zone thing...not really (though I wish :), this section is easier than it looks in the photos - the chimney is just the right width for me so that it's secure and pretty restful. There's also a decent hand crack in the back. I definitely put more pro on the next pitch though.
